as i knew you always would be
May 21, 2012 § 133 Comments
I didn’t believe in past lives, but if I did I would believe that you lived one, and in that life you were everything I knew you could be. You acted as tangible men did, and you were good, so so good, superior to all others in every way. As I knew you always would be. And I loved you. You, being everything I deserved, worthy of my every affection. Free to embrace the height of my passion.
But as I said before, I don’t believe in past lives, and I don’t believe in you.

Hmmm the illusions we love, the delusions we love and lay next to at night… an attempt to ratify worth and a heart and a passionate energy… and then one day it’s all lost… it’s grand and it’s so broken, isn’t it?
Yes, I like the way you phrased that.
what happened?
I like you using “ratified”. One almost wants to say, “rattified”. The evil fairy froggified the prince, then we princified him again, but unfortunately over time he got rattified…
yes, it really is delicious
Yes I agree, and it’s such a great word. Oh how i love words.
well put:: “the delusions we love and lay next to at night.”
Coco- beautiful and heartbreaking photo & post.
thanks very much
I just want to sat that I do believe in past loves and think you poetry is impressing me, Have we? I just don’t know but I like this poem and others I have read…
Awwwe thank you. And I’m not sure?
one never really is, it’s just one of those things… I have met people from my past lives and saw a few of them but are they for real? I have to say yes… and past loves, even more so. There is a theory that everyone you now know you have met in a past life or lives… I am not a full believer of that but I know that I have known others in the past. One I am beginning a love with now, she totally believes we were before… so, the question still stands, have we???
dang..tight closure…hit me unexpected…just like life does at times…
Perfect. I’m glad
i think I might have to make a tent and live on your blog.
lol
hahaha you are great and too funny
. I love camping.
That’s beautiful! Keep it up!
thanks thanks
Whether you believe in him, or not, that looks like a pretty good Kiss, Lol
DarkJade-
ahahaha
Quirky, though I do believe in past lives
Thanks for visiting and following.

Past lives can never be known or repeated so I guess they don’t really matter.
i like that
Tarzan say Words sing song. Tarzan no get . . . but Tarzan like sing-song! Aaaaah-eee-aah eee-aah eee-aah!

ahaha that’s funny
I spent at least half a hour reading your entries! They’re so artistic and thought provoking! Thanks for the follow!
really? my goodness thank you I really appreciate your words. CHEERS friend!
Wow. So succinctly perfect.
darn right.
Well written. It reminds me of a poem I wrote called Today:
Someone asked me today
If I still loved you
As if
the smell of your skin in the morning
the rough of your fingertips on my nipples or
the sound of your voice gasping my name.
could just disappear.
And I answered:
Probably not.
( by Jan Beecher)
lovely and succinct! i don’t believe in past lives either, but i know the feeling of someone being just *this close* to being perfect that you almost believe it’s a shadow of something else, sometime else. beautiful.
Yes yes, thank you very much Cat.
Wow…The last part hit me like a ton of bricks. Good stuff.
hey there, thanks

Thank you John!
I didn’t see the end coming that way. The last line was a great plot twist, and I’m so glad I didn’t read ahead on it. I really enjoyed this c:
awe thank you
Nicely done. The ending was a nice kick, delivered with almost urban-rap-battle ferocity.
Yeah, I like to hyphenate.
Great work!
This made me smile in a certain wry way – the ultimate put-down or come-uppance — “I might like you if you were in another life behaving properly, but…” It’s very clever. k.
Very nice twist at the end.
You have some good stuff here! Thank you for following my blog
Excellent …
If I ever have to get zinged, I want zinged by you — done so poetically. Your knife is sharp, but the cutting is so clever, I hardly feel a thing.
This is soooo great! love it! I get so excited when I have new blogs to follow!
Just beautiful! simply beautiful!
Danke Noel
Ginger, you have described what I have just lived (am living) through and it gave me goose bumps – so darned accurate. Thanks.
WOW, I am so glad you can relate to me. I appreciate your understanding. XO & CHEERS to you friend
falling in love with someone’s potential can be quite the pitfall.
i do believe in past lives, and this thought pattern sheds new light on the concept of “falling in love with potential”, and the course of some of past relationships and friendships…
awe yes, thank you for sharing
oh how us humans enjoy the attempted change of another….
The Only Constant is Change… a message I learned a long time ago, from life, and one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite artists, BT.
I will admit, once upon a time, I did try to change others, and/or wish they would change how I wanted. I eventually realized this was futile, and a codependent vibration. I now put my energies towards making my own changes the most meaningful and worthwhile, and in an energy of love for myself and all things.
Trying to change others only results in either, change without meaningful foundation, or frustration at unfruitful efforts. Everyone is change, and all we can do is hope its for the greatest good. I personally don’t want anyone to “change for me”. i want them to make the most meaningful and positive changes they can for their own path and personal growth, with the hopes that those changes keep us in harmony and walking a similar life path. I understand, this will sometimes not be true. In fact, in the last year of my life, the changes i’ve made have been the best things I’ve ever done in my life, yet they have put me in a completely different place and vibration than 99% of the people I once knew and called “friends”. I still hold great love and no judgement for these people, yet realize that our lives are now on two completely different paths. This was disheartening at first. Having worked through those emotions and related healing, it is now a source of power, for I realize I am reaching for the greatest potential for my life. I am reaching for the stars, and beyond.
As for those that I’ve grown apart from, I wish them the best. To quote a great Incubus song, “Maybe we could meet again further down the river, and share what we both discovered, then revel in the view.”
Wow, that got alittle long…
don’t you think that we made the same mistakes of our past lives?
ohh…. ups! I’m sorry… you cannot trust me: you dont believe in past lives
However: don’t be afraid to love… and don’t blame yourself if you’ve loved..
See you…
Johnatan
hehe…where are you from? Don’t worry, I love to love.
Trst … this is the Deutsch name of Trieste, an Italian little town, placed in the north-east of Italy, near Slovenian’s border…
And You?
Nice to meet you, lover-girl
that sounds really romantic, nice to meet you as well
wow that’s really beautiful, and i love that lyric…
This one hit home. Thank you.
Sam

Hi Coco! Thanks for visiting my blog today! I’m glad you liked the post and hope you found it useful!
simply words for a complex emotion very clever, thanks for checking out my blog.
Life is often made to be complex, but then there is nothing simple with our bodys, thoughts, feelings. Yet you expressed them thoughtfully using simple power.
I will be back to look around. Thanks for having a look at my blog as well. Learning to improve my writing through reading others. Thanks.
All the best!
Gosh thank you. I like the way you write.
A few words. True and sad.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog, Coco, to like a post and subscribe to LaeLand.
It’s actually really heartwrenching, that ending. Love this. (:
yes, sad but not sad….it’s happy, it’s right.
Very deep, and very sad, and sadly, very applicable in so many cases…
Ha – I always wonder what horrid things I did in a past life to deserve such a loser! LOL
Reality summarized.:) Great stuff.
Love your writing. I like that its smart and your words linger with me.
awe thank you:)
I love that poem, keep writing ….
thx friend

I don’t believe in past lives either. But I do believe in 9 lives. You would too if you met my cat!

Reblogged this on mydarkestdreams72 and commented:
Ove the passionate kiss picture ;reminds me of high school. The last line, though, seriously appeals to my cynical attitude now.

I don’t know about past lives.. neither do I believe in them. Why bring in the ghost of a past life into a relationship when each relationship is unique in itself?
It took me like 15 minutes to scroll to the bottom of this post and so now that I’m here… what? Ich lieb dich? Whatev. It’s a big/small world. If you don’t see me again soon, please poke me with a cattle prod or something, okay?
WOW very deep… bittersweet? The last sentence is definitely what hits you the most.
thank you thank you
Really beautiful.
glad you enjoyed
what a lovely, poetic, simple piece of writing.
thanks to you
it feels like a poem about love-lost? am i right or wrong? Its a beautiful poem though.
affirmative
not completely lost…but yes
well you ‘re not supposed to believe in others —only yourself and a God if that includes one.
very very very true. right you are friend
Thanks for the follow. I hope you like my song on the post. You have a cool blog here. This is an intense post.
Thanks for checking out my poetry Coco, loving this one! I think my favourite part of your blog so far though is your fabulous description of yourself on your “about” page. Way to Be!
Whoa! So thought-provoking and beautiful and painful and… mnjsnfhuwHJMNnfkwrhfnjnvjnihquohuhrpughjvnjrneqpghuhgpjbnj bg (losing the ability to use words in the face of such beauty! Ha!ha!)
awweeeee hahaha thanks so much, and you are funny
Each of the many several times I have visited your blog and read this write-up, it has always bitten me, each bite differently…and i keep on coming back for more of its painful sweetness or sweet painfulness! Great write!
I like the way you say that “write-up”, and how you describe your feeling when you read this. Thanks for the descriptive excerpt friend, it’s great, I appreciate your review
Ouch. A star-bursting pen prod in the wound that never heals. Well written. Well endured. And the reading well enjoyed!
Good writing makes the reader think.

I wonder on what basis you have decided to believe or not believe the reality of past lives.

I liked reading your piece
many thanks Angela
Your passion for words is awe inspiring! Thanks for stopping by my page!
of course, and gosh thank you
I love these little snippets you write. mmmm
A friend of mine said “Listen, we all date assholes till we meet the right one.” At the time I thought it was a harsh statement, but he’s right. Not that the people I date are assholes; because who we choose to date is a reflection of who we are and what we think we want. While dating, we are really testing out the combination of qualities, characteristics, and life desires we are looking for. We discover the things that we thought we wanted might not be what we need.
so very very true–thank you
thank you for the follow! i admire your honesty! great work! looking forward to reading your posts!
That’s just perfect. Very elegant.
awe thanks for thinking so and saying so
I do believe in past lives. Thanks for giving me something to think about. And perhaps to write about.

That made me sad, and then the picture. I think I’ve been there.
awwwe
Hmm….Kinda staring at this having a little moment of writer’s block. It was beautifully written. The beauty of writing, for me, is when a sentiment is subtly put across; the hope, innocence and falling-in-love-with-loviness of the first part is so beautiful.
Then it comes crashing down in the last two lines.
yes
oops
very lovely, coco.
