I just killed a coffee maker and had to replace it. Made me think of the time I had to bury my dog.

Every mountain climber needs a french press in their pack! Nothing like a good cup of coffee looking out across an endless sea of waving mountain peaks and forever skies.

really? are you a mountain climber? I can’t imagine carrying a french press climbing with me…although i like the idea

Ha, yes, I am a mountain climber, in that I live in Alaska and climb whenever I can, but nothing pro or even boast-worthy. (You won’t catch me climbing the likes of Denali, K2, Everest, etc. any time soon)
And they make french presses for “backpacking” that are fairly light and small. REI sells them, among others. I thought it was funny when a friend bought one, until we were in the mountains on a trek across Crow Pass. That first night, I became a true believer when he made us all coffee. Sure beats cowboy coffee and spitting.
