Write write write. Write in different languages, write with scribbles, write Crayola lines… write your brains ticks, your hearts tings…write in the morning, write in the middle of the night. Write when you can’t think, write when you’re crying, write when you’ve had enough, when you are down on the ground, when you are DONE living. Write when you’re climbing, write while you’re sighing, write while you’re breaking, write while you’re innards are caving. Write write write write write. Write like it’s your life breath, your life saver, your last chance, your last tick, your last dance. Write like you’re dying, write like if you don’t everyone else will give up and stop trying. Write because it’s in you BEGGING to be seen. Write because your fingers hurt, from being hidden for so many years. Write because your blood is numb and your organs have all turned cold. Write because you’ve read about cayenne blood, write because you’ve seen it flow but never felt it —never YET yourself met it. Write because you were born to CREATE, born to EXPLODE. Write because you’re filled with colors that no one else has ever shown. WRite because you refuse to live another day the same. Write because the past is stuck inside your head and MUST COME OUT. Write so you can step, write so you can keep up with the fastest of the pack. Write so you can step inside yourself, write so you can be better then their tests. Write when you have nothing to say, write when they tell you ‘it’s just not logical‘. Write. WRITE. write write write. And when you’re done GET UP— don’t say a word. They’ll see it in you, they’ll see your writers glow, your skippity steps, the magnificent way you laugh and dance. They’ll see the freedom in your eyes, the ‘so what‘ in your stride, the way each of their words slides off your back without so much as a chance…
But don’t write for them, write for YOURSELF— it will change them. One letter in front of the other, step step STEP.

That was very inspiring Coco, I have to say that I have definitely been writing during many of the instances that you mentioned. For me writing when I’m down or upset is one of the best ways for me to feel better.

Write for God – He wrote your name in living blood;
Write for yourself, to channel cayenne floods.
Write for the host of hopeful names He wrote.
Write for His, ours, and ALL the hearts that broke.
Write while there is still a chance,
Then throw your empty pen and DANCE!
Happy Spring, Coco et. al. let us REJOICE!!!

Writing is medicine for the soul of the writer. I am so glad I read this. I have been reading more than writing and I feel so inadequate. Especially after reading great writers as yourself. I will write again, good or bad. I will write when I feel, whatever that may be. Thank you for your words. They permeate my soul.

You have to HAVE TO keep writing through the bad to get to the good. I barely wrote for years, just started really writing again over a year ago. It will change your life. Read ‘The Artists Way’, by Julia Cameron. It completely changed the course of my life.

Yes, it is why I am writing the daily haiku. It is small enough that I can commit to it and thought provoking enough to keep me practicing daily. I want to start writing more free verse. I will definitely read that book. Thanks.

I always have this problem of what others might think of me when I write, that always seem to pull me back so much. This is my encouragement. Thank you.

This is great! Very good inspiration, maybe I will actually start getting all my one-sentence ideas down onto paper. They tend to turn into a whole page if I actually write.

I agree. Need more writers and people who can think. Would be a better world if people understood other people and read often to increase understanding of our world.

Your writing speaks to that place deep inside me where my writing lives. I shared this wonderful piece on Facebook. The following is my accompanying comment.
‘I like this, A LOT. I see a few ‘errors’ but I DON’T GIVE A SHIT, in fact I like it more because it’s not perfect. It’s passionate, powerful, honest and wonderful. The pedantic fringe of the literati can bite me. THIS is my kind of writing.’
