His Worth

“Listen, you don’t understand me—I’m not a monster.”
His voice cracked and diamonds started to form in the tear ducts of his eyes. One fell upon his cheek slicing open his skin, exposing bright red drops of fear.

Ashamed, he quickly covered his cheek, holding in place the sharp diamond that had fallen from his eye.
I took his hand in mine, then took the diamond examining each of her sharp rich edges.

Yes! His worth was so much more than the price tag I ever could have placed on him.
