A Lie
March 12, 2014 § 10 Comments
He’s going to her house
tonight.
Temptation he’s withheld
Holds his brain now,
at gun point.
He says he loves me—
He doesn’t lie.
But his heart is made from hers
and the past is still
only theirs.
Now the guns been shot—
temptation at a halt.
The guns been shot—
straight through my heart.
Their past will not pass,
so I must pass
on his heart
that’s still her heart
tonight.
He says he loves me—
I smile a lie, and say
‘Goodnight’,
because his heart
was never mine.
I hand him the pieces
so he can feel the weight of a future
in his hands—
because their past,
became my future…
And nothing of theirs
ever passed,
except me—a vagabond gypsy
passing through.
beautiful.
