Revenge

It took three years and seven nights
To find words to destroy him—
Finally, revenge would be mine.

I opened my mouth at just the right time
Pulled out my tongue
With the script in my mind.

And just as the words
were lined up to get dropped
My tongue caught stage-fright
and instead my heart spoke

“I love you. . .”

She screamed, at the top of her lungs.
Then my thinks left my brain
As my lips found your lips.

“Me too.”
You whispered.
“Me too. . .    all along.”
