It’s bright, it breaks,
it’s pretty, it hates.
It l♥ves, it loses,
it wins, it chooses.
It’s cayenne, it’s cherries,
it’s chocolate, it bruises.
It’s cinnamon stained,
it lives in his brain
that damned wild thang
[her heart].

A Romantic Death

May 13, 2013 § 18 Comments

I  try  and  envision  a  romantic  death.
The  way  I’d  like  to  die.
I  know  coffee  and  1000  red  balloons  must  be  involved.
“She passed away in the early hours of the morning, after having ingested 75,000 cups of coffee she wasn’t thinking sanely, so when she grabbed onto her ride of 1000 Red Balloons, her body so full of toxic liquid was more than the balloons could carry. As she splattered across the cement, words of poetic brilliance flooded the streets making everyone break out into happy bursts of joyous song. It was a tragic death indeed. She will be known always, as the Poetess who drank 75,000 cups of coffee and became too heavy for even 1000 Red Balloons.
Yes! What a romantic death indeed.
Me  and  my  1000  Red  Balloons.

a new heart

He knocked on her door, she answered. He grinned,
she laughed brightly.
With an air of  charm, he reached inside her chest,
and  pulled out her heart.

special friend

February 11, 2013 § 14 Comments

My special friend has gone away
He took my heart and left—
just the other day.

I said, ‘don’t go’,
But he couldn’t stay
He said he must be on his way.

He took his baggage I couldn’t claim
Bought a ticket to Lonely Lane.
I said, ‘be fair’
He said, ‘let’s fight’
We ran in circles,
’til the mornings light.

Dizzy in my head
I stopped for breath,
Stared him in the eyes
As he reached into my chest.

I said, ‘be careful,
I’d like her back’.
He sighed and took her
Smooshed her in with the rest.

I said, ‘That’s it? Just like that’
He laughed, then tilted his swag top hat.
Dressed in a suit
he looked devastating—
my debonair man
with my most prized baby.

I haven’t seen her since that day.
She must be living
on Lonely Lane.
My special friend has gone away
but without my heart,
I don’t care—
I don’t feel anything.

seduce thee with my pen

If you cannot win a man over with beauty.
If you cannot win a man over with brilliance,
intelligence, or education.
If you cannot win a man over through ideals,
pots of gold, talk of happy endings.
If you cannot win a man over through manipulations,
through charming well played-out seductions….
Then    you  must   win   him  over
with   words,   poems   and   proses.
For as beauty fades— pretty phrases
are embossed in the mind forever.
While intelligence fails— the written word grows immortal.
When sex appeal dies— the poetess lives on
within story book pages
for ever and ever.
So though I’m no the prettiest girl,
and my spoken word, at times,  I stutter…
I shall seduce thee   with my pen—
and make you mine forever.

Where Am I?
