My Word
November 12, 2013 § 16 Comments
One day your girlfriend will wistfully walk the rows of a bookstore, where she will fall upon words— I wrote.
She will remember her past love, and tenderly whisper,
“This is how I felt. How could another, so far away
put into word, my own heart…?”
But she won’t know, each was your word— stolen, from my heart,
and now—
she is reading us.
On this day, her heartbreak will be healed from reading her own heart, in my story.
But she won’t know, each was your word—
not so far away—but,
sleeping safe beside her
as she dreams.
You have my word.
“You have my word.” Very nice!

Lyrically beautiful. And I also love the photo. Is it a self portrait? Nicely done.
